Day 2 of our Trip to Indiana

7/1/12

Half the year is over. The new medical year begins. The 4th of July is almost here.

Our day got off to a slow start. I have come to realize I like hotels/motels where you can park right in front of the door. I was told at some point in my life that doors leading to the outside is what defines a motel vs a hotel which has an inner hallway.

I paid approximately $60 per night for 2 double beds. I asked to see the room before getting it and she showed me the room I was going to get without hesitation. It was a no frills room. It had that old non updated feel to it but it was clean. The selection was poor and there was only one other choice in town which was $40 more although it looked nicer.  The place was quiet and the AC was very cold which was nice. The AC had good controls and was not overly loud so we were able to lower the temperature without abrupt sound changes you here when it kicks on and off.

The room was a little cramped. There was a table with 2 chairs however if you kept the 2 chairs around the table, you could not sit and there was no other place to put a chair so we stuck it close to the door. There was not a good place for the suitcases either so they went right next to the window but that did not allow you to walk near the window or beside the bed and there was a fridge (which was nice) but that required us to walk by the bed to access it as it was located at the head of the bed by the window which is an odd location however there was not room anywhere else. So to access the fridge, we had to lay on the bed.   I used the fridge as my computer stand.  Outlets were hard to come by.

There were no surprises. The bed was fine, the staff was courteous. No cockroaches or any bugs for that matter and the hotel was quiet. The breakfast was just wrapped danishes and coffee so it was poor. Again, no surprises. I felt safe and the staff was nice. I really had no complaints but your wife and kids wont be telling you how awesome you are. There was free internet too.

After our slow start, it was nice to get in a clean and arranged car.  We set out to Fair Oaks and got there a ½ hour early.
